Parade of Flowers and Main Parade Overview
Saturday , October 3rd parade is sponsored by Nine Star Connect. The parade leaves GCHS, travels South on Broadway Street to US 40 (Main Street). Then follows Main Street East through downtown Greenfield to the ending destination at Riley Park.
Parade of Flowers:
"Begins South of the Courthouse and follows State Street North, toward the statue of James Whitcomb Riley where the school children leave their flowers for the poet's birthday"
The Parade of Flowers begins south of the Courthouse and follows State Street north toward the statue of James Whitcomb Riley. Students march carrying bouquets to place around the Riley statue, creating a vibrant floral tribute. The route covers approximately one mile through downtown, allowing spectators to enjoy the colorful procession and community spirit.
Parade Routes Overview
The Parade of Flowers begins promptly at 1:00 PM on Friday, featuring elementary students from Greenfield-Central schools. This event lasts approximately 30 minutes as participants march downtown to place flowers around the Riley statue.
The Nine Star Connect Riley Festival Parade begins at 1:00PM on Saturday, October 3rd, with over 75 units traveling from Greenfield Central High School through downtown to Riley Park. The parade typically runs for two hours, showcasing community groups, floats, and local talent.
